Randy Gene Moss

Randy Gene Moss (born February 13th 1977) is an ex- American football player. He was a player in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 years with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San Francisco 49ers. He is widely recognized as Jerry Rice's most outstanding wide receiver. He holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record of 23 in 2007, the NFL rookie single-season touchdown reception records (17 in 1998), and is second on the all-time NFL regular season touchdown receptions with 156. Moss was well known for his prowess in securing an elusive catch and the term "mossed" is now part of football's language. Post-football, he began working with ESPN as an analyst for its studio Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He was a student at DuPont High School. It was one of two schools that later merged into Riverside High School. There was a great player in basketball, football, baseball, track, and other sports. Randy was also a member of the school's debate team. Moss played a key role in leading the DuPont Panthers football team to two consecutive state championships in 1992 and 1993. His star position was wide receiver. However, he also played free safety as well as punted kickoffs and was the team’s punter and kicker. He won the Kennedy Award for West Virginia Football Player of the Year in 1994. Parade magazine named him to their All-American high-school football team in 1995, and in 2009 the magazine named him among the top 50 football players in high school.
